This stellar panel of attorneys share empowering and ethical processes for diverse hiring-- including discussions around questioning and eliminating biases and assumptions from the hiring process, leveraging pipeline opportunities to create a more diverse applicant pool, intentionally building a culturally competent workforce, and prioritizing access and belonging while improving retention. Panelists will answer questions from participants and share stories of their personal successes with the shared principles.
Shawntal M. Mallory, Director, Nebraska Legal Diversity Council
Shawntal M. Mallory is a native of Omaha, Nebraska. She was educated at Creighton University and Creighton University School of Law where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and her Juris Doctor, respectively. A licensed attorney, over the course of her fifteen-year practice, she has specialized in adoption, juvenile, family, and employment law while serving in nonprofit executive positions as general counsel and in human resources.
Winifred F. Hawkins, Partner, Kutak Rock LLP
Winifred is a member of the tax credit group at Kutak Rock. She has experience representing institutional lenders, banks, syndicators, investment funds and corporations in the acquisition, disposition and financing of affordable housing properties. Winifred focuses her practice on equity investment in lower-tier transactions involving low-income housing tax credits, historic rehabilitation tax credits, renewable energy tax credits and other related state and federal financing products.
Tracy Hightower-Henne, Partner, Hightower Reff Law
Omaha native Tracy Hightower-Henne has a passion for using her legal talents to help others. Together with law partner Susan Reff, Tracy founded Hightower Reff, Omaha’s premier family law and criminal defense law firm, in 2012. After law school, Tracy worked in the corporate tax world and decided she wanted to spend her time helping families through what can possibly be one of the toughest times in their lives. Tracy represents clients in divorce through complex matters that are most important in the moment, and she is compassionate about making sure her clients are heard.
