The presentation will go over the common types of complaints the Attorney General receives, the type of notices the Attorney General must receive, and the powers of the Attorney General to correct wrongdoing.
Phil Carlson, Attorney General’s Office
Phil Carlson is the Chief of the Consumer Protection Bureau in the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office, Lincoln, NE. He and his staff work in the Consumer Protection, Charities, Antitrust, and Tobacco fields. He has held that position since December 2020. Mr. Carlson graduated from the University of South Dakota School of Law and was admitted to the South Dakota State Bar in 2008. Mr. Carlson worked for the South Dakota Attorney General’s Office in Pierre, SD from 2014 to 2020. Besides being the only dedicated Consumer Protection Attorney in that office, he also handled Charities, Gaming, Municipality, and Anti-Trust issues. Before that he was in private practice in Mitchell, SD where his practice was largely devoted to criminal defense and family law. A certified gearhead and history buff, he spends his time outside of the office working on cars, playing guitar and singing, and building plastic models.
