During this program on meditation, University of Nebraska College of Law Dean Richard Moberly will provide an introduction to meditation and its many benefits to a lawyer’s wellbeing. Dean Moberly has practiced meditation for four years and will present an overview of the documented medical and mental benefits to meditation, a discussion of why meditation is ideally suited for lawyers, and an exploration of the potential roadblocks to a successful meditation experience. Additionally, the session will include a beginner guided meditation.
Richard Moberly was appointed as the College of Law’s 17th Dean on April 1, 2017. Prior to this appointment, he served as the College’s Interim Dean in 2016 and as Associate Dean for Faculty from 2011 until 2016. He joined the law faculty in 2004 and has taught Evidence, Employment Law, a capstone course in Litigation, the Law of Secrecy, and in the Civil Clinic. In 2006 and 2011, he was voted the Professor of the Year by upper class law students. In 2014, the College of Law Alumni Council selected Professor Moberly to receive the Distinguished Faculty Award, and in 2007, students and faculty awarded him the College Distinguished Teaching Award. In 2007-08, he received the Cline Williams Research Chair.

Active Nebraska attorneys are required to complete 10 hours of continuing legal education (CLE) each year. Two of those 10 hours must be in the field of professional responsibility (ethics). Nebraska attorneys may claim only 5 hours of distance-learning CLE per year. Webinars viewed on this portal are considered distance-learning. Under the new MCLE reporting process, the NSBA will report your attendance for this program, which will be automatically updated into your transcript. The NSBA has 30 days to report your hours to Nebraska MCLE, and your transcript may not update immediately.
