Now that Iowa has passed comprehensive consumer data privacy laws (joining five other states), navigating applicability and compliance obligations for businesses can be challenging. This session will compare these consumer data privacy laws side-by-side to discuss the similarities and differences in complying with these new laws.
Grayson J. Derrick serves as Chair of the Firm’s Technology and Intellectual Property Section, leads the Firm’s Privacy and Data Protection practice group, and is a member of the Firm’s Executive Committee. Gray assists clients with negotiating agreements for software development and licensing, technology acquisition and other information technology and information security matters. He handles a wide range of matters relating to various aspects of intellectual property law, including domestic and international trademark prosecution, copyright prosecution and resolving domain name and other Internet related conflicts. He also assists clients in addressing regulatory matters, including privacy and security issues, data privacy law compliance, anti-money laundering compliance programs, and money transmitter/money service business licensing issues.
Arianna C. Goldstein's practice focuses on intellectual property and technology law, and in her intellectual property practice, Ari focuses on patent law. As a registered patent attorney, Ari works with her clients, who range from start-up ventures to established companies, to determine the best and most comprehensive way to protect their intellectual property from every angle, including patent, copyright, and trademark protection. She applies her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry to provide unique assistance to clients who are involved in the biotech industry.

Active Nebraska attorneys are required to complete 10 hours of continuing legal education (CLE) each year. Two of those 10 hours must be in the field of professional responsibility (ethics). Nebraska attorneys may claim only 5 hours of distance-learning CLE per year. Webinars viewed on this portal are considered distance-learning. Under the new MCLE reporting process, the NSBA will report your attendance for this program, which will be automatically updated into your transcript. The NSBA has 30 days to report your hours to Nebraska MCLE, and your transcript may not update immediately. You are no longer able to log your own hours in your transcript; they must be reported by the sponsor.
