Carbon sequestration is the process by which carbon dioxide (the most commonly produced greenhouse gas) is captured and stored in solid or liquid form. This panel will include a discussion about opportunities and issues associated with carbon sequestration as it relates to farmers and agricultural operations.

Kendra A. Strommen, Matzke, Mattoon, Martens & Strommen, LLC 
Kendra A. Strommen joined the firm of Matzke & Mattoon in 2015 and became a Partner in 2018.  Strommen practices in oil and gas law, real estate, probate and estate planning.  She is a graduate of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts.  She is also a graduate of the University of Denver Sturm College Of Law where she received her Juris Doctorate.  Strommen is licensed to practice law in the State of Nebraska while also being a licensed Nebraska Abstractor and holding her Producer’s License with the State of Nebraska’s Department of Insurance in addition to being a member of American Association of Petroleum Landman (AAPL).

Dan Lindstrom has developed a broad variety of practice areas since joining the firm in 1986. He first gained proficiency in litigation of a number of subject matters, including insurance, personal injury, business, agriculture, natural resources, water, zoning, annexation and other disputes. David has more than 35 years’ experience in business, government and law, including senior management experience in private industry and federal and state government agencies. He advises clients focused on energy efficiency projects and on renewable energy projects including biofuels, biomass, solar and wind energy, as well as lenders and vendors to the energy sector. David also works with producers and agribusinesses involved in production, processing and sale of agriculture products, along with lenders, insurers and other firms supporting agriculture and food industries. Based on his multiple government appointments, David also represents firms obtaining permits and otherwise interacting with federal, state and local government agencies and regulators.

 Michaela Valentin, OPPD
Michaela Valentin, JD, is the government and community relations manager for the Omaha Public Power District (OPPD). In this role, Michaela is responsible for building relationships with all local public officials and administrative leaders in OPPD’s 13-county service territory. With extensive experience in government relations, Michaela served as legal counsel to the Nebraska Legislature’s Judiciary Committee and has lobbied for 15 years at the state and federal levels for the insurance and home care industries. Michaela also has account sales and service management experience. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Nebraska College of Law in 2001. Prior to that, she completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology while serving as a law enforcement officer in Fremont.
