Attorneys deal with emotionally charged conflicts every day. Heightened emotions compromise an individual’s ability to reason and attempts to engage in conversation can escalate the situation further. Anyone involved in litigation can experience an emotional response during conflict, including attorneys, witnesses, and clients, especially those clients who have experienced trauma.

Alex Lierz of Nebraska Legal Group has been a licensed member of the bar for seven years and focuses her practice on representing clients in domestic relations matters, including high conflict custody and protection order cases. Before attending law school, Alex volunteered with Voices of Hope in Lincoln as a trained volunteer for the 24-hour crisis line and victim advocate. More recently, Alex has presented on risk assessment and de-escalation techniques for law firm staff and was trained and certified to use the Danger Assessment and Weighed Scoring System to evaluate risk of lethal violence in intimate partner violence cases.

Eileen Reilly of Omaha, Nebraska is an alum of Creighton University School of Law where she graduated cum laude. She has been licensed to practice law since 1994 and has a variety of accomplishments since her licensure. Since 2016, Eileen has worked at the Women’s Center for Advancement. At WCA, she has been in many different roles including client attorney, legal services manager, and as of Aug 2020, the project director for legal services to victims. She has an extensive resume with years of experience in law-related community activities, patents and publications, and she has been the recipient of several awards.

Susan Ann Koenig is an attorney, executive life coach, speaker, and writer.
