This presentation will provide an overview of the evolving employment law landscape, with particular focus on the issues businesses and corporate counsel are facing in the current environment. Topics will include recent changes to the scope of protected activity in the private sector; limitations on the use of confidentiality provisions in severance agreements; uncertainties surrounding the future of non-compete agreements; new requirements about how companies must accommodate its workforce—and, most important, practical recommendations about how companies and counsel should respond to these changes.

Chris is a Partner at the Baylor Evnen Wolfe & Tannehill law firm in Lincoln, and a significant portion of his practice involves employment law. Whenever possible he works with employers and managers to employ a proactive approach that focuses on understanding legal obligations, identifying potential compliance concerns, mitigating risk, and maximizing positive outcomes during the decision-making process. This often consists of providing counsel on an as-needed basis, but also involves of reviewing personnel handbooks, conducting internal investigations, and presenting to lawyers and companies alike about the ever-changing landscape of employment law.
