Panelists will also discuss various statutory restrictions, legal frameworks and ethical considerations impacting the DEI arena for public and private organizations in the past, present and future and invite audience participation of the same.

Karine
Sokpoh is an attorney and founder of Sokpoh Law Group in Omaha, NE and she
serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Midlands African Chamber and she
is a major force behind the chamber’s “Pitch Black” accelerator event which
supports minority and other disadvantaged businesses via a business competition
that provides organizational and funding support. Originally from Togo in West
Africa, Karine earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from the
University of Lome’ before receiving her Bachelor’s of General Studies in
Communications with a minor in Women’s Studies from the University of Nebraska
at Omaha in 2004. In 2008, she received her Juris Doctor, Magna Cum Laude, from
Creighton University School of Law with a Certificate of Concentration in
International Law. She was admitted to practice in Iowa and Nebraska in 2008
and 2009 and she began her legal career at Koley Jessen LLP. In 2010, the
Nebraska State Bar Association awarded her the Outstanding Young Lawyer Award
for her exemplary contributions to the state bar and community. She is an
active member of the Nebraska State Bar Association and was a past president of
the Midlands Bar Association.
Dr. Regina Taylor
Dr. Regina Taylor is an Associate
Professor of Management at Creighton University’s Heider College of Business
and Chair of the Management and Marketing Department. Originally from Dallas,
TX, Regina graduated from the University of Central Florida where she earned
her Ph.D. in Management. She holds a B.S. and M.B.A. from Florida A&M
University as well as a M.A. in Human Resources and Industrial Relations from
the University of Minnesota. Prior to pursuing her Ph.D., Dr. Taylor spent six
years in corporate America rising to the rank of Manager of Human Resources.
Her corporate experience includes positions at The Walt Disney Company in
Burbank, CA, Johnson & Johnson in Ft. Washington, PA and Medtronic in
Minneapolis, MN. Dr. Taylor conducts research on factors that support or
inhibit ethical behavior from leaders and employees. Her research has been
published in leading academic journals including Human Relations, the Journal
of Business Ethics and the Journal of Organizational Behavior. She has presented
her research at international conferences, which include the Academy of
Management annual conference and the Society of Industrial/Organizational
Psychologists annual conference. Dr. Taylor is an active member of the Academy
of Management, the Society of Industrial/Organizational Psychologists and the
Southern Management Association.
Professor Eric Berger
Professor Eric Berger joined the faculty in 2007. He received his B.A. with Honors in History from Brown University, and his J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he was a Kent Scholar and an Articles Editor on the Columbia Law Review. After law school, Professor Berger clerked for the Honorable Merrick B. Garland on the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. He then practiced in Jenner & Block's Washington, D.C. office, where he worked on litigation in several state and federal trial and appellate courts, including the United States Supreme Court. Professor Berger's matters there included cases involving lethal injection, same-sex marriage, the detention of foreign nationals at Guantanamo Bay, and internet obscenity.
