Dr. Anna Fisher, an expert in dementia, will provide insights into understanding capacity issues, particularly in the context of cognitive impairments. Following her presentation, a panel of health professionals and attorneys will delve deeper into the nuanced scenarios where individuals with special needs must navigate legal documents, such as signing contracts and making healthcare decisions.
Dr. Anna Fisher serves as the Hillcrest Health Services quality, dementia, emergency preparedness, and nursing services education expert. Dr. Fisher is responsible for the implementation of educational and quality improvement programs following the identification of regulatory and clinical needs, competency exams, and supporting the need for high quality of care for diverse business lines that include assisted living, memory care, adult day services, in-patient rehabilitation, outpatient therapy, home health care, private duty, telehealth, palliative, hospice, and skilled nursing care.
David M. Thompson is an Associate Attorney on Burnett Wilson Law’s estate planning team. David is also the Director of Marketing for the firm. Prior to joining the firm, David was a sole practitioner in Omaha whose practice focused on guardianships and conservatorships, Medicaid planning, veterans’ benefits, and end-of-life planning.
Catherine Swiniarski received her Juris Doctorate from Creighton University School of Law in 1986. Since that time she has practiced law in a wide variety of settings, from corporate to private practice. In addition, she has taught legal topics in various academic settings. She has settled into the practice of Elder Law, a new and emerging area that has grown dramatically with the aging of the baby boomers. She welcomes the opportunity to practice law in a more holistic, largely non-adversarial environment.

She is admitted to practice in Nebraska and the U.S. District Court District of Nebraska, having entered the legal profession in 1993. Ms. Line has been active in several groups, including the college and legal organizations of Omicron Delta Epsilon and Phi Alpha Delta. She acted as Scholarship Coordinator for MENSA from 1996 to 1999.
