Panelists will demonstrate multiple softwares (both close and open ended) and make attendees feel empowered to use these resources ethically.

Robert L. Kardell, Baird Holm LLP 
Robert L. Kardell (Bob) is an attorney whose practice focuses on cyber-breach incident response, legal and technology-based risk management solutions, technology and cyber-defense policy and protections, intrusion remediation, and fraud prevention and investigation.   Bob has more than 22 years of experience working for the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a Special Agent.  In his career, Bob has also worked on cyber-crime investigations as well as public corruption, white collar, and financial criminal and civil investigations. Bob has been both a certified computer forensics examiner and an accounting forensics investigator. He has testified numerous times as a fact witness in criminal trials and before grand juries and drafted expert reports for both accounting and computer investigations. 

Thomas Freeman, Fiedler Law Firm, P.L.C.
Thomas Freeman, JD, MS, MBA is a civil rights and employment law attorney at Fiedler Law Firm, PLC. He was formerly a Business Law Professor at Creighton University. Mr. Freeman regularly publishes and frequently speaks on topics at the intersection of law and technology. His academic research is focused on digital ethics and algorithmic bias.

Jean Putrino, Zurich American Insurance Co.

Jean Putrino obtained her JD in 1987 and her MBA in 2012 from Creighton University. After clerking for the No. Dak. Supreme Court she joined a plaintiff’s personal injury practice, then went to work for Omaha-based Empire Fire & Marine Ins. Co., owned by Zurich American Ins. Co. Putrino is currently a Vice President of Zurich American Insurance, a $42 billion dollars US commercial Property & Casualty insurer. She is the Automobile Practice Lead within Zurich’s 32-lawyer Claims Legal Department. She provides coverage and other legal advice to the Claims and Underwriting Departments, helps develop new insurance products, and manages the defense of Zurich from litigation directly against the company.

Maureen Fulton, Koley Jessen P.C., L.L.O.

As the chair of Koley Jessen’s Data Privacy and Security practice area, Maureen Fulton dedicates her practice to advising businesses in developing comprehensive privacy and data security programs. Maureen uses her experience as a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) and as a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals to guide companies in navigating through the complexities of state, federal, and international privacy laws and regulations. Her experience positions her to guide clients through a wide range of matters, including compliance counseling, risk management, incident response, and litigation.

Maureen regularly counsels clients on the intricacies of key privacy regulations, including European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (CCPA), the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020 (CPRA), the Colorado Privacy Act (CPA), the Connecticut Data Privacy Act (CTDPA), the Utah Consumer Privacy Act (UCPA), and the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (VCDPA). In tandem with the Data Privacy and Security team, Maureen tracks new privacy laws and regulations as they emerge. She actively supports clients in the ongoing task of updating their privacy policies, ensuring compliance with evolving legal requirements.
