During this seminar, a panel of therapists will share the process of family therapy and what that may look like as it relates to family law cases.
Glenda Cottam, Prairie Family Counseling and Consulting
Glenda Cottam, PhD, JD, completed her undergraduate training at Pennsylvania State University. She obtained her master’s degree and her doctorate at the University of Mississippi. After receiving an Air Force Health Professionals Scholarship, she completed an Air Force residency in clinical psychology at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center and then served in active duty capacity at Ehrling Bergquist USAF Hospital. She completed her law degree at Creighton – while working primarily in private practice as a psychologist serving individuals and families who are involved in the legal proceedings. She has earned certificates in mediation and assists in training for those who wish to become facilitators for Specialized Alternative Dispute Resolution. She has served as a court appointed expert, as Guardian ad Litem, and continues as a member of the Mental Health Board. For several years, she was been a volunteer consultant to the Sarpy County Wellness Court. She is a member of the numerous professional organizations – including, the Nebraska Psychological Association; the Nebraska State Bar Association: the Nebraska Mediation Association: the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts; and the National Register of Health Service Providers.
Jody Jurgens, LIMHP
Jody has extensive experience working with children, teenagers, and adults. Her interests include ADHD, depression, anxiety, grief, and divorce adjustment for families. She has clinical experience in working with developmental disorders, including autism and Asperger’s. She provides school consultation and counseling services, which also include training for the Creighton University/University of Nebraska Medical School Department of Psychiatry Fellowship Program. Jody received her master’s degree in social work from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Sara E. Batter, LICSW, LADC
Sara E. Batter is a clinical social worker and alcohol and drug counselor whom has been working in the mental health field for the past 15 years. She obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Sara has been working as an outpatient therapist since 2013. In 2017, Sara started her private practice where she continues to see clients on a regular basis. Sara focuses on treating children and adolescents, but has experience working with a wide variety of clients and mental health issues. Sara also has experience working with divorced families, blended families, and families going through significant life changes. In addition to her private practice, Sara offers ongoing supervision to social workers who are working towards licensure in the state of Nebraska. Sara currently holds the social work position on the Nebraska Board of Mental Health Practice.

Tara Gardner-Williams grew up in Schuyler and Columbus, Nebraska, the only daughter in a hardworking family, and by the time she was eight years old had decided she would be a lawyer. After working her way through college earning dual two Bachelors of Science with distinction and her law degree, Tara established a private law practice emphasizing family law. Tara joined the firm in 2014. Tara continues to focus on all aspects of family law, counseling and representing clients in legal separation, divorce, pre-nuptial arrangements, paternity, custody and child support disputes.

Active Nebraska attorneys are required to complete 10 hours of continuing legal education (CLE) each year. Two of those 10 hours must be in the field of professional responsibility (ethics). Nebraska attorneys may claim only 5 hours of distance-learning CLE per year. Webinars viewed on this portal are considered distance-learning. Under the new MCLE reporting process, the NSBA will report your attendance for this program, which will be automatically updated into your transcript. The NSBA has 30 days to report your hours to Nebraska MCLE, and your transcript may not update immediately.
